Permanent Account Number

PAN is the registration number of the company under the Income Tax authorities. It is the number quoted every time the company has to deal with the Income tax department of India. The PAN Number can be applied online. Following are the documents required to get the PAN Number.

  • Form 49 A
  • Copy of Certificate of Incorporation of Company

The form shall be duly signed by the authorized signatory and send to the department, generally it taken 7-10 days time to get the PAN Card.

Tax Deduction Number

TAN is the registration number of the company under the Income Tax authorities. It is the number quoted every time the company does any transaction relating to withholding tax, The TAN Number can be applied online as well as off line. Following are the documents required to get the PAN Number.

  • Form 49 A
  • Copy of Certificate of Incorporation of Company

The form shall be duly signed by the authorized signatory and send to the department, generally it taken 10-12 days time to get the PAN Card.

VAT and CST Registration

VAT AND CST are the value added tax applicable on sale and purchase of goods in India. There are two type of sales tax applicable in India i.e VAT value added tax application to transaction taking place within a state and CST i.e tax applicable to transaction of sale and purchase between two states. There are various tax rate structure for VAT and CST depending on the type of product the company is dealing. The tax rates are Nil,1%,4% and 12.50%.

At the time of registration the company has to specifically provide for the type of product it will be dealing in. For vat registration the following documents are required.

  • MOA & AOA of the company (Duly Attested with Company Rubber Stamp)
  • Proof of Address of the company in the name of company (Duly Attested with Company Rubber Stamp)
  • Proof of Identity of the Applicant of the company. Passport/Driving Licenses/Election Photo ID/Telephone-Electricity Bill (Duly Attested by Applicant)
  • Proof of Address of the Applicant of the company (Duly Attested by Applicant)
  • Once cancelled cheques from the bank as a proof of bank account.
  • Copy of PAN Card of Company (Duly Attested by Applicant with Company Rubber Stamp)
  • List of Directors with Name, Residential Address, PAN No, Professional Tax No
  • PAN Card Copy of All Directors (Duly Attested with Directors)
  • Proof of address of all the directors duly attested
  • Payment of Rs. 25000/- and 5000/- for sales tax department.
Service Tax Registration

Services tax is the tax imposed on the services provided by various businesses. In case any company is into provide services to its customers and not dealing in the trading of goods than the service tax applicable. The present rate of service tax in India is 10.30%.

Registration criteria
  • Service tax is not applicable up to 10 Lac
  • The registration number of services become compulsory one the company crosses the limit of 9 Lacs.

After crossing the above limit every business is required to take a service tax registration number and shall charge services tax to all its customers at the rates prevailing at the time of invoice.

Set Off of Input Services For the assesses of services tax , credit of all input services is granted if the person has paid the services tax on the input of services. Hence the net payable liability would be after taking the setoff of all the input services.

Document required for Registration
  • Copy of PAN card of the assessee.
  • Proof of the address of the premises to be registered/copy of telephone bill. Electricity bill. Rent agreement in the name of the company or in the name of proprietor/ partner/firm in the case of proprietary or document accepted by any of Central/ State Government Department e.g. i.e. Income Tax. Sales Tax. Registrar of Companies DGFT or passport in the case of address.
  • In case of partnership firm: Copy of Partnership Deed.
  • In case of companies: copy of Memorandum of Association.
Import Export Code

Frequently known as the IEC , every business involved in the activity of import and export of good need to have a Import Export Code for clearing the goods from the customs. Hence every company looking to import goods in India need to have a IEC code. Following are the documents required to get the Import export code.

  • Application form duly signed by directors
  • Company’s MOA and AOA with Incorporation Certificate
  • Company’s PAN Card Copy
  • Bother directors Residential Address & Identity Proof
  • Bank Certificate as per the enclosed format - you need to take from banker
  • Two Photograph of each director.
  • Demand Draft of Rs. 250/- in favour of (Jt. DGFT Mumbai) payable at Mumbai - i will get it prepared
  • Form 18 and 32 of company for address and proof of directors if there is change in address and directors of Company
  • One Covering letter in company’s letter head.
  • Two Brown Envelope with stamp
Shop and Establishment

Every establishment in India if carrying out the commercial activities in any premises need to register itself with the local municipal corporation. The registration charge depends on the number of employees in the company. Following are the documents required for shop and establishment.

  • Agreement copy
  • MOA and AOA
  • Form 18 and Form 32
  • Duly Signed Application Form
  • NOC, if address premises of other person is used.
